The Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María is Chile’s leading university in Engineering, Science and Technology and the country’s third most important higher education institution according to the National Undergraduate Accreditation Commission (CNAP). It was founded on 1926 and named after a visionary Chilean businessman, Federico Santa Maria, who had died a year before. His goal was to create a university specialized in this area, that would lead to the development and improvement of human beings. He also privileged those skilled students who lacked financial support by giving them the chance to study in the university, and consequently, more prospective job opportunities.
