The University of San Simon (UMSS) is a public university in Bolivia with headquarters in the city of Cochabamba taking other academic units in different parts of the department of Cochabamba. It is the oldest university school of that city and the third established in Bolivia, after the Pontificia Universidad Mayor Real and San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca (1624) and the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (1830) in La Paz. By having the highest level of education in the country, the UMSS has been ranked the best public university in Bolivia [citation needed]. In its different faculties there are students around the country and neighboring nations of Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru among others. Offers professional and graduate studies and second specialization also runs courses communal extension.
