The Autonomous University of Chiriqui was established in 1995. Located in the city of David in Panama, the university consists of the following faculties:
- Business Administration and Accounting
- Economy
- Education Sciences
- Humanities
- Law and Political Sciences
- Medicine
- Natural and Exact Sciences
- Nursing
- Public Administration
- Social Communication
As well as its main campus, the university also has five regional campuses and college extensions in the surrounding province. Those studying and living in David itself will find themselves based in a relatively affluent city with very low unemployment. The city is an economic center for the province and has in recent years seen developments to the banking sector and an expansion to the local airport.
Be warned: the city has one of the hottest climates in central America, with temperatures peaking in March and April. From mid-April to mid-December, the city experiences a long, hot wet season.
