Founded in 1994, Universidad Americana celebrates its 25th birthday in 2019. It’s located in Asunción, the capital city of Paraguay, with two additional teaching facilities located elsewhere in the country: one in Ciudad del Este – the second-largest city in the nation – and one in Encarnación – Paraguay’s third-largest city.
The university is split into four colleges, as follows: College of Law and Social Sciences; College of Economic Sciences and Business; College of Communication, Art and Technology; and College of Health Sciences. While the university has a healthy academic reputation, perhaps its most famous alumni are not necessarily best known for their intellect. Former professional footballer Roque Santa Cruz, Olympic athlete Leryn Franco and 2011 Miss Universe contestant Alba Riquelme all graduated from Universidad Americana.
As well as being the nation’s capital, Asunción is one of the oldest cities in South America, having been founded in 1537 by a Spanish conquistador.
