The Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, often referred to as simply TUFS, is a specialist research university based in the Japanese capital with a teaching focus on foreign languages. Some of the languages taught at TUFS are rarely taught in Japan or anywhere else in the world.

Language departments cover the following languages: Arabic, Bengali, Burmese, Cambodian, Chinese, Czech, English, German, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Laotian, Malaysian, Mongolian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Thai, Turkish, Urdu, Vietnamese.

The main university campus is in Fuchu and houses a library, sports field, gymnasium and Japanese Language Center in addition to teaching facilities. On-campus accommodation is also available to both international and domestic students.
