National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (NKUST), also known as High Tech University, is a new university, established in 2018 by the merger of National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences, the National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology and the National Kaohsiung University of Ocean Science and Technology. This merger, implemented due to a need for a comprehensive marine sciences program, makes the new NKUST the largest science and technology school in the nation, hosting around 28,000 students in total.
NKUST has five campuses with a total land area of 216 hectares, the largest of which is the Jiangong campus, originally the National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences. Located in the commercial center of Kaohsiung city, the campus is home to the schools of engineering, electric power, management and humanities and social science. It’s ideally located, particularly for lovers of nature as there are nearby mountains and waters.
