Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages was founded in 1941 as Almaty Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages. In March 1998, under Decree № 256 issued by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Institute was transformed into the Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages. Currently, KAUIR&WL is one of the largest multisectoral, scientific and educational complex of the Republic of Kazakhstan, specializing in the humanities, linguistics and international relations. KAUIR&WL Ranks third among Kazakhstani universities specializing in the humanities and economic sciences and the twelfth among the 60 leading educational institutes of the Republic. KAUIR&WL is the only educational institute in Kazakhstan that provides education in 14 foreign languages. Its campus is located in Almaty metropolitan city at the foot of Zailiysky Alatau Mountains.
