German University of Technology in Oman (GUTECH)





The university is the result of long-standing cooperation between RWTH Aachen University in Germany and the Sultanate of Oman based on some archeological research of Professor Dr. Michael Jansen, urban historian at RWTH Aachen University.
This archeological project led to a Memorandum of Understanding between Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) in Muscat and RWTH Aachen University. The Memorandum was signed in 2000.

In 2007, GUtech got the approval from the Ministry of Higher Education in the Sultanate of Oman for the first four Bachelor of Science programmes:

Sustainable Tourism and Regional Development (STRD)
Urban Planning and Architectural Design (UPAD)
Applied Geosciences (AGEO)
Computer Science (CS)
