Erasmus University Rotterdam is a worldclass research university in the Netherlands, founded in 1913. Today, it is one of the leading research universities in Europe, with over 3,500 researchers and over 27,000 students from more than 100 countries. The university is named after Desiderius Erasmus, the great Dutch Renaissance scholar, who was a strong advocate of international intellectual cooperation. The university motto,Mens agitat molem (‘Mind moves matter‘), encapsulates the innovative spirit of the university. Erasmus University Rotterdam has a long tradition of internationalization. It was one of the first Dutch universities to offer courses in English, and it now has over 1,200 international students. The university has a strong focus on international research collaboration, with over half of its research projects involving international partners. The university is organized into eight faculties: Business and Economics, Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication, Erasmus School of Law, Erasmus School of Philosophy, Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Erasmus MC (medical center), and the Rotterdam School of Management.
