The University was founded by the decree of the FirstPresident of the Republic of
Uzbekistan on 13 May 2016 by combining three academic institutions – the Faculty of
Uzbek Philology of the National University of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek
the department of Uzbek Language and Literature of the Tashkent State Pedagogical
University named after Nizami and the Alisher Navo’i Institute of Language and
Literature of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan.
This decree has become the golden page in the annals of our state, an important
stage in the ongoing large-scale reforms targeted at restoring national values and
reviving the centuries-old leading status of Uzbekistan as the cultural, educational,
and scientific centre for the peoples of Central Asia. This is a historical document,
positive impact of which could be everlasting in further development of the mother
tongue and literature.
