The Al-Khudair family founded Al Yamamah University (YU) as a single college in May 2001. Having pioneered the development of the first private schools in Riyadh in 1957, this represented their second significant contribution to education in Saudi Arabia. Al Yamamah College, which has been accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, welcomed its first group of male students in September 2004 and its first group of female students in September 2006. Al Yamamah College was elevated to the status of a university in 2008 by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may Allah protect him. This was the result of eight years of preparation and arduous work to establish a distinctive, contemporary Saudi educational institution that provides undergraduate and postgraduate education.
